Sopra Steria Consulting working with HSBA

Enahncing Synergies for the Digital Age: Sopra Steria Consulting – one of the leading consultants and development companions in the age of digital transformation – will be working in collaboration with HSBA ҹAV from 1 January 2017.

As a valuable link between academia and commercial practice, HSBA, a state-certified business school also serves as a motivator for the development of new business models in the digital era, which is why it has combined high-level expertise and practical experience into its Digital Innovation Lab. As a privileged partner of HSBA, Sopra Steria Consulting will have direct access to the latest research findings and a pool of highly specialised experts. Similarly, HSBA will benefit from its connection with the broadly based transformation services provider, able to implement digital strategies at any level and any size. For clients, this provides a uniform end-to-end transformation service, stretching from business model development through to implementation and operation.

More and more companies are seeing their traditional business model threatened by growing competition from start-ups and fundamental changes in their customers’ expectations. Many of these companies are striving for a higher level of innovation and seeking to set themselves apart in the market place with digital solutions. However, many established companies lack not only the appropriate environment for such a development, but also the necessary expertise for the quick and flexible development of market ready digital solutions. “It is exactly this need that we are addressing, offering support in terms of expertise and methodology through highly specialised mentors”, explains HSBA Professor Michael Höbig, head of the Digital Innovation Lab at HSBA.

The partners in this collaboration favoured the idea of a Corporate Garage, in which companies can effectively establish an internal start-up as spin-in in their own company. Thanks to flexible methods like Rapid Prototyping and Design Thinking, the development stage for digital service models have been significantly shortened. By using a mostly iterative approach in many small bursts, experience gained from the on-going project can be applied to its further development, focussing on developing only what is actually useful from the User’s perspective.

According to Urs M. Krämer, Director of Sopra Steria Consulting, “Our recognised consultancy and implementation ability means that these kinds of solution models will be developed from strategy to implementation much faster”. One clear goal of the collaboration is to identify and enhance synergies in the service portfolios of both partners and to expand their value chains to the benefit of shared clients. For Sopra Steria Consulting, the partnership also has the advantage of providing not only a link to their own Digital Innovation Labs, but also establishing a direct link to state of the art academic thinking and research findings. Julius Steinriede, who as Head of Business Consulting Industries with Sopra Steria Consulting is responsible for overseeing the project, is convinced: “Both parties strengthen the other thanks to their perfectly complementary skills. Companies are given the double option of not only boosting their digital transformation but also improving their competitive ability with a digital solution tailor made to their customers.”
