Inaugural Lecture of Professor Katja Starken

Diversity & Inclusion: A Key Success Factor for International Organisations

Antrittsvorlesung von Prof. Dr. Katja Starken

In order to be successful in a globalised world, international organisations must increasingly consider how they can diversify and become more inclusive. The positive effects of diversity and inclusion include a stronger ability to innovate, greater flexibility to adapt to the needs of different markets, lower staff turnover and an improved reputation. These factors contribute significantly to increasing competitiveness and financial success. However, cultural differences, prejudices and resistance to change can make the implementation of diversity and inclusion concepts more difficult.

The lecture deals with the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives and the associated challenges and opportunities as well as the measurability of success and discusses these using practical examples.

The lecture will be held in English.

As this event is part of the general electives, undergraduate students will receive 0.1 credits towards their degree when participating.
