Study Agreement
In order to be accepted onto the dual study programme at HSBA, it is essential to conclude a study agreementwith a partner company where the practical part of the study programme will be carried out. The students remain in one company throughout the entire study programme.
HSBA supports the search for a partner company with a variety of offerings. Information on the application procedure can be found in the “Application” section of the respective course.
It is possible to complete the practical part of the study programme in a company abroad. If this option is of interest to you, please get in touch with us. Please note that the practical part of the study programme in the company often requires a knowledge of German.
The employment relationship with the company is subject to social insurance. Consequently no further proof of health insurance is required.
Special information for non-EU students: Non-EU students may have to apply for a visa. However, they generally do not require a work permit, as students are excepted from such requirements. You can find more information on visas here.
Mathematics
A good knowledge of mathematics can be substantiated with a grade average of at least 2.5 under the German grading system. HSBA will convert the grades after you have submitted your qualification that entitles you to study at a third-level institution and the certificates for the last two years of school.
The grade average of 2.5 is calculated from the average of the two best grades from a maximum of five (four half-yearly reports and if applicable the Abitur exam).
If the requisite grades cannot be produced, the candidate can complete an admission test at HSBA. This can be taken in English.
HSBA offers preparatory documents and preparatory courses on request.
English
A good knowledge of English (corresponding to at least the B2 level of the European Framework) can be substantiated in the same way as described above for Mathematics through the school grades obtained or the HSBA admission test. This does not apply to applicants whose qualification to study at a third-level institution was acquired in English-speaking countries abroad.*
Alternatively, proof of the necessary English skills can be provided by means of:
- TOEFL internet-based with at least 72 points or
- International English Testing Service (IELTS) “academic” with 5.5
- FCE with Grade A, CAE with Grade A, B or C, CPE with Grade A, B, or C
Further certificates at a qualified B2 level can be assessed individually by HSBA. Due to the long periods needed for preparation and correcting, we recommend planning these dates at an early stage. On the date of registering, the test cannot have been passed more than two years ago (from the date of the test).
* Among others, these also include South Africa, Canada and American Samoa.
