Prof. Dr. Stefan Prigge explored jointly with Dr. Alexander Juschus and HSBA alumnus Ralf Leister the corporate governance of the members of the Bundesliga. Based on 83 criteria covering areas like management and governance boards, remuneration, and transparency and disclosure, they compiled a ranking. The ranking can be compared with the results from their first study in 2016. Borussia Dortmund secured its top position. Bayern München ranks only at position three, on a par with the HSV.
Comparing the new results with those from 2016, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is the big winner due to significant improvements regarding management and governance boards, and transparency and disclosure.
Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen also showed remarkable progress in their corporate governance whereas the VfL Wolfsburg is the big loser.
