Mobile Phone Collection Campaign at HSBA
The ecological backpack of a smartphone is 75.3 kg. This is equivalent to the weight of about four full suitcases. Or 940 times the weight of a smartphone. So why should these masses of raw materials continue to be mined when 124 million old mobile phones are stored in German drawers alone?
The MSc Digital Transformation & Sustainability addressed these and many other questions as part of its research project "The Smartphone as a Resource - Use and Reuse". In this project, the students examine usage behaviour on the one hand and on the other hand strive to raise awareness for the use of raw materials and the "resource smartphone".
Participation means: Hand in your mobile phone and do good with it!
From Thursday, 13.06. to Saturday, 15.06.2019, a mobile phone collection campaign will take place at HSBA, during which old mobile phones / smartphones (defective or functional) can be handed in. These are reused - or recycled - in cooperation with certified partners (Deutsch Telekom and Teqcycle). The proceeds from this collection campaign go to the "" charity, a nationwide organisation for abused and disadvantaged children.
