She will give her inaugural lecture on the topic:
Challenges in Communication to Promote Organ Donation: Why opt-out defaults can reduce the number of living organ donations.
In Germany, organ donation is governed by the so-called opt-in rule, meaning that organs can only be donated from deceased individuals if there was consent during their lifetime. In contrast, in other countries the opt-out regulation applies, i.e. organs from deceased individuals may be donated if there was no active objection during their lifetime.
Sinika Studte conducts research on this topic and explains in her inaugural lecture why waiting lists for organs are still far too long, even in countries where opt-out agreements exist, and why the switch to an opt-out system may have a negative impact on living organ donation.
Please feel free to register here for the inaugural lecture of Prof. Dr. Sinika Studte. We look forward to your participation.
The event will be held in German.
